Supporting a Relaxing Dental Visit
Dental anxiety may lead some people to avoid receiving the dental care they need to maintain their oral health. Inevitably, this leads to the development of dental health issues. If this sounds like you, we have options to help alleviate anxiety related to dental care.
If you are undergoing a long or complex procedure, dental sedation can help you get the care you need without causing undue stress. Specifically, it can make the process more comfortable and seem to pass more quickly.
Whether you're coming in for a routine checkup or a longer, complex oral surgical procedure, our dentists will take the time to discuss any concerns you may have and help you decide whether sedation is right for you.
Easing Your Dental Anxiety
We want to help you feel as calm and relaxed as possible during your appointments, so in addition to offering sedation, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide reassurance as needed.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is inhaled through the nose. It can help calm you while allowing you to remain alert enough to communicate. It also increases pain tolerance, reduces gag reflexes, and may make time seem to pass more quickly.
Oral Sedation
Your dentists can prescribe oral sedatives in pill or liquid form for you to take before a dental appointment. Though you'll be awake for the procedure, the sedative effect will cause feelings of relaxation and reduce discomfort caused by dental treatment.
